The Cottage Knapp Parking Structure is the second of two parking structures for the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital expansion and rehabilitation of the existing hospital. It is located behind the historic Knapp Medical Clinic building which fronts on Bath Street across and near the Bath Street entrance to Cottage Hospital in the City of Santa Barbara, California.
The design of the new parking structure reflects the Spanish Colonial Revival style of architecture which began in the 1920’s and is so prevalent in Santa Barbara.
The parking structure is four and one half levels including one subterranean level and contains 612 parking spaces for physicians and hospital employees of the main hospital as well as patients going to the Knapp Clinic.
The project required extensive design review from the City Design Review Board as it was located on a historically significant site. The project was meticulously detailed using various architectural elements of the 1920’s to make up the Spanish Revival vocabulary required for all Santa Barbara Projects
