The Grove at Farmers Market Parking Structure is an eight level, post-tensioned concrete, open parking structure containing approximately 3,569 parking stalls. The project was developed using the Design Build delivery method for the client and was completed on time and on budget. The ingress and egress areas for the structure are on the ground level with 7 inbound lanes and 11 exit lanes. The ramping system is an express ramp located in the center atrium of the structure. This double helix ramp design allows for entry counterclockwise in an upward direction on one double lane ramp with double lane exiting clockwise in a downward direction on the other.
As many as four complete turnovers of vehicles are experienced during holiday seasons. That is over 14,000 cars a day! The structure’s Architectural vocabulary is taken from an Art Deco era and adapted to the surrounding retail complex known as The Grove at Farmers Market which was developed in the historic Farmers Market located at 3rd and Fairfax in Los Angeles, California.
Customer satisfaction was the requirement and the main parameter for the design of this structure and so in addition to being able to self park, two valet drop off areas at the ground level, diagonal wider than normal parking spaces and an electronic vehicle counting system which displays the availability of the parking on a level by level basis were installed.
